The solution to Mullaperiyar problem

1) Tamilnadu chief minister & opposition leader, Kerala chief minister & opposition leader with experts from geological department (not corrupted peoples) should visit the site within 1 month.
...
2) Unscientific - illegal contract for 999 years must be cancelled & we should take over our Dams.

3) Within 3 months, we should lower the water level to 100 feets.

4) We should immediately call the global tender to construct a new dam as an agreement to build within 1 year.

5) Contractors & labors should be assigned maximum from kerala & they should be appointed by officers who has not been included in any corruption.

6) New dam should be construct fast & scientifically. There should be a maintenance supervisor & it should be decommission/destroy before the expiry date.

7) There should be bonds & conditions regarding the lease of dam water with Tamil Nadu & for every 5 years, it should be re-newed.

8) The land in which the water for Tamil Nadu passes is the land only belongs to Kerala & no others can demand the ownership.

9) All the leasing amount should be finalise by kerala only.

10) All the expenses, & bonds should be transparent & update to public.

  1. it is a cunning post by keralites those problems mentioned here,if mullai periyar dam brakes are totally imaginaly and unscientific.
even kerala government lawyer mentioned in kerala high court that idukki dam which is 7 times bigger than mullai periyar has capacity to store the water of mullaiperiyar even if it breaks .and mullai periyar dam has built with roman concrete technology and it is very strong also.water leakage in mullai periyar is very low than the accepted level.karnal ho dam in rome built with same technology is exisisting for more than 1000 years even after an earth quake of 7 rictor if there is danger to the mullai periyar dam by earth quake, the new dam u want to built in the same place and idukki dam are in same earth quake zone (zone3) ,then why dont you break the idukki dam also in same zone ???????please dont spread wrong rumors about mullai periyar.

  2. your ideas are based on certain beliefs....you need to consider the fact that the mullaperiyar dam was built by the british more than 100 years ago. it was not built with proper security measures as idukki dam.

the engineer who built the dam has mentioned in his report that the dam has a lifespan of only 50 years.there is a drfinite need to build the new dam.

kerala government has promised the tamil nadu government that the water supply to tamilnadu will continue as it is now. then why the hell does tamilnadu interfere in this issue ?

it explains that apart from taking water from the dam, tamil nadu has other unspoken objectives in the problem.

if kerala wants to build a new dam in the land of kerala why does tamil nadu wants to stop kerala?.

  5. thanks raju for the reply.
everyone in kerala understands the fact that water from mullaperiyar is the source of survival of almost 5 districts in tamilnadu.never have any one from kerala said that water to tamilnadu will not be given.
kerala has always said that the new dam has to be built and at the same time water will be provided to tamilnadu without any change as it is now.what is the problem here.
the issue here is the safety of kerala. can you blame kerala for thinking about its own safety ? tamilnadu is thinking about its safety in the recent koodamkulam issue.then how can you blame kerala when every one from kerala government had assured the Tamilnadu ministry that water will be shared no matter what happens....
please understand the issue with an open mind.

  6. Dear Kerala friends, the difference between Koodankulam plant and Mullaiperiyar issue can be written for pages. These rumors are spread by the Kerala government to snatch the ownership of the dam from Tamil Nadu. Kerala feels that they were betrayed/fooled by the British. They can't tolerate that the dam which is in Kerala whose ownership is with Tamil Nadu. So they want to demolish the current one and construct a new one and own that one. For this, there are panicking people be spreading rumors. They say "Water for Tamil Nadu; safety for Kerala". They do not open their mouth on the ownership of the dam or on the 999-year agreement. Are they OK for demolishing the current one and construct a new one on the SAME site and the 999 agreement should stay as it is? Surely they will not agree. Because the real concern for the Kerala government is to nullify the agreement. The safety of the people is secondary for them.
